2021/10/05 [公告] ICSD 2021 update

The International Conference for Sustainable Development (ICSD) 2021 was recently held during September 20-21. This conference provides a forum for academia, government, civil society, UN agencies, and the private sector to come together to share practical solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These sessions include over 300 oral and poster presentations from researchers and development practitioners from across the world, presenting their work on topics ranging from gender equity to climate change to economic development, all focused on solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, ICSD’s plenaries allow participants to hear thought provoking speeches and conversations from leaders in the field of sustainable development. Speakers and panelists include heads of state, UN officials, CEOs, economists, and university professors. ICSD is a truly global event with programming that spans across all time zones and welcomes participants from all across the world – 149 countries in 2020 to be exact! On September 21 we had Sophia Roces, an IPCS master student share her poster on "Youth Innovation Project for community cohesion in Taipei’s social housing: Partnership towards SDG 11" (see attached poster and ICSD event schedule).

After her poster session, Professor Hikaru Komatsu, an IPCS faculty professor, inspired youth from all over the world about his experience in the academe and working in various international organizations such as UNESCO and the World back in the session entitled "Translating Theory to Practice: Global MDP alumni perspectives on the Humanitarian, Development, and Peace Nexus." During this session, Professor Komatsu shared the importance of inclusivity in the process of sustainable development in his discussion entitled "Who Knows The Solution?"

 




In addition, Mariana Reyes, IPCS PhD student and the East Asia Representative, shared the contribution of IPCS to the field of climate change and sustainable development, she shared the innovation solutions of IPCS in terms of the smart campus project, IPCS job talk, and international and local research done by IPCS faculty and students. Definetely in this ICSD session, IPCS has played a huge role in sharing its knowledge, experiences and perspectives in the field of climate change and sustainable development.
